One of the many events that takes place on World Paella Day is the World Paella Day Cup. The tournament where different countries from around the world compete to win the award for the best paella.

The chefs competing in the World Paella Cup are selected by the public and reviewed by a jury of top professionals. Each chef chooses the paella recipe they will compete with. There’s only one requirement: the rice must be dry, loose, whole, and flavorful. In other words, it must be a paella.

Representatives from each country experience the World Paella Day Cup Stage a few days before. They spend a few days in Valencia acclimatizing, training, and improving thanks to a great technical team made up of master paella makers and experts in the world of rice.
